Six Sigma implementation at SCA Hygiene Products Gemerska Horka, Slovakia, started in 2006. Main goals of implementing Six Sigma have been to improve financial and operational results. Other goals have been to improve management quality, to empower people and prepare them to take over new roles and responsibilities, to integrate systematic problem – solving into daily work routines.
For SCA Hygiene Products, Six Sigma is a natural next step on their road towards World Class Management. To assess progress and to identify improvement potential, a standard self-assessment is being performed regularly.
Management Systems have been responsible for (1) aligning deployment with SCA corporate Six Sigma program objectives, (2) providing guidance to management team (Sponsors) regarding Program deployment and projects selection. We have (1) provided Lean Six Sigma training, (2) delivered continued training, (3) assisted Black Belts to take over responsibility for training, (4) provided recommendations for development of deployment supporting systems, and (5) completed a number of Six Sigma Black Belt projects.
Year 2006 was a year of intensive learning, thus some projects were not financially evaluated but still considered important to get to know processes better. In 2007 Six Sigma Program was aimed at further integration into corporate culture.
During two years of implementation improvement projects contributed 15 mil. Sk to Net Profit. There are other benefits that are either non-financial benefits or difficult to measure financially.
